Building Regulations in Wales
From Midnight on 31 December 2011 remaining functions under the Building Act 1984 passed from the UK Government to the Welsh Government.
This includes powers to make Building Regulations.
Documents and guidance that is current and in force up to 31 December and which had previously applied to England and Wales will continue to apply in Wales following the transfer of powers. This includes:
- Building Regulations;
- the approved documents;
- guidance published by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG); and
- approvals under competent persons provisions.
From 01 January 2012, any revisions to Building Regulations and related procedures, processes and guidance proposed or issued by DCLG will apply to England only.
